What Has The World Come To!? Living a world of Taboo Three-legged baby! 200 PD. Woman! The Bearded Lady! Remember when grandma told us stories of when these anomalies were considered freaks of nature and could only be seen at the Freak Show? Look around grandma now the world is a Freak Show! For years now babies born conjoined(stuck together) have been read about with nothing more than heart warming awe's, filmed, some lucky enough to be surgically freed from one another and chronicaled on those channels that I speed past. Come One, Come All. Step right up and see The Fattest lady in the world! Not anymore! Now you've got some poor kid looking past the Fat Lady into the crowd of onlooker's, scratching his head and pointing, "Which one?" And your thinking, "Hey kid, don't you fucking point at me...I'm big-boned." Yeah...Me too. The Bearded Lady? Forget about it! I see several of those walking the streets, working in stores and serving our food. I think that The Bearded Lady was just a woman who didn't care to shave...for many...many years. Okay I will admit from the old photo's they showed that she had a little more estrogen than most overly estrongened(is that even a word?) ladies. Or she had that added touch that many of is women have had or still have, a wig piece. I got to tell you in the world we live in today, while still riddled with socially inacceptable's, what was once considered rebellious behavior is now all the norm. The world has come a long way from being that horrible time when appearances certainly outweighed logic and human secrets were kept in hidden rooms or sent to the Circus. It has become more compassionate to the behaviors, deformities and rights of others. Women covered from head to toe in tattoo's, people considered weird because of some quirky behavior. I love it! Sure we will always have labels, without them we would still be cavemen making noises at each other because there would be no use for words. So what could the headlines read in the distant future for a Freak Show? The Amazing Two-armed, Two-legged, One-headed Creature! Come One, Come All Step Right Up and See The Skinny Woman You've Read About Them In Stories...Seen Them In Your Dreams...Ladies and Gentlemen We Present To You...White People! |
eye SORE -The Contact Lens Epidemic! I have been an avid color contact lens wearer since I was a teenager and "lost" my first pair of baby blue square-shaped glasses. Okay so I am going to let everyone in on a secret...I was on my way to school one morning and walked past a dumpster and saw my opportunity, so I took it. I know that's bad but I had to do it...They were horrible! Anyway a few years ago I started to get angry red eyes, extreme dryness and yucky protein build-up after wearing my contacts for only a few hours. Truth be told, I am just like most of you contact wearers who claim to take care of their contacts. Our way of taking care of them is more of a soak in eye solution after wearing them for more than eight hours then back in the eyes. But this red eye thing would last for up to a week and taht's after taking my contacts out and not wearing them during that whole time! When my eyes would finally clear up I would think it was safe to wear them again and within thrity-minutes I would see the redness starting to form. After visiting a doctor about my red, dry eye problem and trying several common solutions like: Rewetting drops, which I would use multiple times per second because obviously they did not work. Well there was that one that was gel that worked because it actually coated the eye. The only problem was that it also left things blurry for a minute or two. This year after one exam, the doc noticed that wearing the contacts so long in a day made my eyes develop these very tiny holes(At least that's what I thought she said. She was Chinese and her English was quite broken) that would only get worse if I did not buy the steroid medication that she prescribed. So I bought it and it worked like a charm! It's purpose was to strengthen everything up and wipe out infection. The medicine cleared up everything even my sinuses. In fact that is still what I go back to when my eyes look red and infected, my whole family uses it! However when it was time to put my contacts back on my eyes were red and dry all over again. Changing Contacts. As you know a lot of eye places only carry a certain two brands of color contact so the choices are very limited. Needlessto say, changing my contacts did not work. Not even after the eye doctor prescribed Hydra-Clear. So after two years of going through contact lenses, rewetting drops, medication, being told that I may have to discontinue using contacts all together, and just being blind for days(because sometimes you'd rather not put anything in your eyes) I think I may have finally found a solution. First, I gave in six months back and I bought a pair of glasses. Picking out glasses is like picking out a great pair of Tennis shoes, I had no idea what I was doing because I am a stilleto girl. So I came home with a pair that looked good on the rack and would later see one of my friends wearing. My eighty-three year old friend. Then two months ago I did my research. Got online and looked for any and all color contacts, anywhere in the world that had good ratings for comfort and beauty. Finally after seeing this huge board of people talking about contacts, one in particular was about trying to find the perfect blue contacts. I am more of a Green, Gray, Hazel type girl so I didn't care much for that. However as I was reading about them I found out that they were Soflens natural colours made by Bausch and Lomb. After viewing photo's of these particular contacts(Jade) in several of the board user's eyes I noticed that they looked Blue, Green, or Gray depending on the person's skin tone. I can get those colors anywhere in Texas so though they were really nice that simple fact made it nothing to rave about. What did it for me was that they all claimed that these color contacts made for dark eyes were very comfortable. I went to VisionDirect.com a website where you can purchase all types of contact's and I ordered them, in Jade. It sucked that it took about six weeks to get here because they are not in the U.S. but boy was I happy to see them arrive in my mail! I opened up my package and pulled out the box which was blue with dots not like the pictured white box with dots. I love these contacts. At first the few seconds of irritation from the lens's edges was a minor issue now I am realizing that maybe my eyes are not red because the size of the lens prevents the protein build-up from actually building up. I still have a little build-up with the contacts but when I do it always goes to the corner of my eye and not all over my contact and my pupil. They were also a little blurry due to them being color contacts but yesterday I soaked my new contacts in a solution called Clear Care, which is a mix of peroxide and cleans protein from your contacts, and today they feel great and the blurriness was not even noticeable! A few blinks and No irritation at all. If you are having problems for some reason with your usual brand of contacts I would definitely try something new. I have always been a Acuvue2 and FreshLook contact user but the color contacts they offer here in the states just don't do it for my eyes. For some reason the Soflens do.

We Want To Hear From You!
, left off and take on Supernatural forces after John goes missing.

I opened up my contacts(one contact per eye, comes in the box) tried them on and after blinking a few times because the contacts were irritating around the edges, they felt pretty good. I wore them for six hours with only a small hint of red. Not the usual blodshot redness I get when I wear my other soft contacts after only forty-five minutes(that's how bad it got).
